BERNIE QUINN
Born in Co Tyrone, Bernie Quinn graduated in Textile and Fashion Design from the University of Ulster. She then studied Art and Design at University of Brighton.
On completion of her studies, she taught art in numerous schools and colleges throughout Northern Ireland.
Alongside her career as an art teacher, Quinn has freelanced as an Arts Facilitator working on many high profile projects such as Belfast Arts Initiative.
She has exhibited at University of Ulster, Burnavon Arts Centre and in several Belfast galleries.
She has won the Design Directorate Award and has illustrated “ Tou Tou “ by Fiona Dunckley.
In recent years, she moved to Donegal where she has worked to develop these structural landscapes. In her work Quinn brings together the principle elements which concern her; vivid colour and surface pattern. Through a fusion of the disciplines of design, textiles and painting she constructs each piece in a mathematical format.
The first solo exhibition of these stunning little treasures was “ Surface Illusion “ in 2003. Her last solo show was “ Journey “ in 2009.
