GEORGE PUTMAN
Born in London, George Putman began sketching and drawing at a very early age.
As a young man he studied at Bournemouth College of Art. He travelled all his life and experienced the cultures of countries such as India. These experiences influenced all aspects of his work, especially his rich, sensual use of colour.
George studied at Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas and in Germany just after re-unification.
He then moved to Spain and it is here with the vivid Iberian light he worked to develop his strongly Impressionistic style. His paintings capture the fleeting, ephemeral moment … that glimpse of something just before the light shifts and all changes.
George continually pushed the boundaries, never allowing himself to become complacent , he worked tirelessly to reach the point where his vision could be represented to the full in his work.
George Putman exhibited extensively all his life.
Sadly George is no longer with us but his work remains as a testament to a life devoted to capturing the beauty of all that surrounds us.
