Johnny Boyle

Johnny Boyle is widely regarded as one of Donegal’s best loved landscape painters . It has been 2 years to the day since Johnny’s last exhibition at the Ramelton Gallery. His last show attracted long time collectors of his work as well as those who were new to buying art. That show was a major success , many works being purchased before the official opening and the remaining pictures sold within a matter of days.
Surrounded by the magnificent beauty of South Donegal , Boyle continues to return to the hilly slopes of Carnaween , to the glorious Gweebarra and to the fishing boats of Killybegs , an unending scource of inspiration in his work. Boyle has worked tirelessly over the years to develop his style in an attempt to capture the magic that exhales from the hills and bays of Donegal. From his studio set deep in the rustic landscape overlooking Gweebarra Bay comes a new collection of his work. .
Boyle’s reputation continues to grow. His work has been selected for exhibition at the Royal Hibernian Academy and at the Royal Ulster Academy where he won an award. He has won many awards at the Annual Easter Exhibition at the Glebe Gallery Churchill and has shown at Iontas, the prestigious National Small Works Exhibition. Internationally, Boyle has had shows in Holland, Germany and the United States.
These lovingly executed landscapes are imbued with the weather of this Western Island. Racing clouds, changing light, rain, winds and even the odd shard of sunlight.
